About Oenotria Land

Oenotria Land Vineyard was created in 2000 on the shores of Lake Marathon, a historic reserve of fresh water to meet the needs of Athens therefore the area is imperative to have pure water. The lake acts as a temperature control mechanism and ensures balanced climatic conditions almost throughout the year.
The Oenotria Land vineyard, in Kapandriti is 20 hectares that faces the shores of lake Marathon and has mostly northern exposure. The soil is primarily clay with a high percentage of limeston and the altitude is between 200 and 300 metres. The climate and, even more, the soil of the region favour red grape varieties. So we decided on the versatile Agiorgitiko, one of its first plantation in Attica, the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Syrah, which naturally, reveal a different, warmer, character and produce concentrated wines.
There is diversified cultivation, with small plots surrounded by groves, olive trees and unique biodiversity.
– We are practicing organic farming since the beginning.
– We plant cover crop during winter to reduce erosion, promote soil microbiology and reduce inputs.
– Organic matter management is quite important for us. As as result substantial input of organic matter is incorporated, to capture water.
The estate promotes wine culture through the wine museum that honours the vine and all its deriving products. Oenotria Land Wine Museum collection in Kapandriti, Attica, might well be the most comprehensive and rigorous attempt to capture and present the rich history of wine. Furthermore in the estate the visitor has the oportunity to make vineyard tours, estate visits and wine tastings.
